I’m Ron Ponzoli, and my journey to JupiterFIRST is a good example of God’s love and how God always follows us and always pursues us, and never gives up on us.
I was born in Miami; I’m a fifth generation Floridian. I was raised an Episcopalian, was an altar boy, and a part of the youth ministries. But when I left home, I, like some of us, got away from my faith. God would talk to me, but I wouldn’t always talk back to him.
I didn’t go to church very often at all.
This year my family and I traveled to Italy, and I experienced a life-changing event there.
On the last day of our trip, we were in the Abbey of Monte Cassino. If you’ve never been there, it’s a beautiful place, and it’s almost impossible to not feel God’s love and his power and grace in that space.
I walked into the Abbey church, and as soon as I stepped in I felt something profound, something I had not felt in a very long time.
I was truly thunderstruck, and I knew immediately I wanted to get down on my knees and pray and talk to God.
So, I did.
And I talked to him in a way I hadn’t talked in a very long time.
And I started to cry.
I was so overcome with emotion, so overcome with God’s love.
When we returned to Florida, I knew I needed to find a church home to share my new relationship, this newly re-awakened relationship, with God. My wife encouraged me try JupiterFIRST.
I walked in, and as soon as I did Associate Pastor Chip gave me a handshake and a big smile. And I heard Pastor Kevin speak, and I really loved his words.
And I knew immediately that this was my home.
This is going to be my home forever. This is where I will worship. I love God and I really am very lucky to have JupiterFIRST as my family.
